One thing I do not appreciate is horrible customer service. I had a bad experience while attempting to purchase shoes for my children just last night. That store lost my business due to poor service.
I think if more people apply the scriptures below to their everyday lives, they will find they are happier and the people whose path’s they cross will be happier. This scripture can be used when dealing with co-workers, customers, strangers, friends, family, love ones and even your enemies. For me the following scriptures capture the core of my being. Enjoy:
Humble Servitude:
John 13: 13- 17 (Amplified)
13You call Me the Teacher (Master) and the Lord, and you are right in doing so, for that is what I am.
14If I then, your Lord and Teacher (Master), have washed your feet, you ought [it is your duty, you are under obligation, you owe it] to wash one another’s feet.
15For I have given you this as an example, so that you should do [in your turn] what I have done to you.
16I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, A servant is not greater than his master, and no one who is sent is superior to the one who sent him.
17If you know these things, blessed and happy and [a]to be envied are you if you practice them [if you act accordingly and really do them].
Matthew 20:26-28 (Amplified)
26Not so shall it be among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant,
27And whoever desires to be first among you must be your slave–
28Just as the Son of Man came not to be waited on but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many [the price paid to set them free].
1 Peter 5:6
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.
Philippians 2:8-10 (Amplified)
8And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross!
9Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has [a]freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name,
10That in (at) the name of Jesus every knee [b]should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

I find the more I give love and display love, the happier I am. I call this walking in love. And no I don’t mean the kind of love that is exclusive to people who have a significant other that they are intimate with. I am talking about walking in love where you are able to love strangers, family, friends, and even enemies. You are able to exemplify this by pouring kindness onto another person whether they deserve it or not. You prove you are walking in love by taking the higher road when dealing with difficult people such as co-workers. You show love by providing the best customer service on your jobs and on the streets. How about letting a car in while driving in traffic? What about praying for your enemies? There are so many little things we all can do to display love. But to do it, we must first know the definition of love and be mature enough and humble enough to give love. Then and only then should we expect to receive love.
But how do you walk in love? How do we even know what love is? Of course God provides a definition of love. I found that when I read and meditate on 1 Corinthians 13:4-13, that a calmness comes over me. I am able to handle a difficult situation better. And for that reason, I have the scripture in 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 hanging in my cubicle at work. I bet if more people read and believed what God has shared in 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 daily, the world would truly be a better place. I think there would be less anxiety attacks, less depression, less anger, and ultimately less violence.
I believe 1 Corinthians 13:4-13 is very powerful, yet I do not hear many church leaders referencing it. Let me encourage you to read the following (1 Corinthians 13: 4-13) from the Amplified Bible:
4Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
8Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy ([a]the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].
9For our knowledge is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect), and our prophecy (our teaching) is fragmentary (incomplete and imperfect).
10But when the complete and perfect (total) comes, the incomplete and imperfect will vanish away (become antiquated, void, and superseded).
11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child; now that I have become a man, I am done with childish ways and have put them aside.
12For now we are looking in a mirror that gives only a dim (blurred) reflection [of reality as [b]in a riddle or enigma], but then [when perfection comes] we shall see in reality and face to face! Now I know in part (imperfectly), but then I shall know and understand [c]fully and clearly, even in the same manner as I have been [d]fully and clearly known and understood [[e]by God].
13And so faith, hope, love abide [faith–conviction and belief respecting man’s relation to God and divine things; hope–joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love–true affection for God and man, growing out of God’s love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Walking in love,

In trying to come up with meaningful, uplifting, and unique ideas of presents to share with people (especially during Christmas) I open my mind to anything that can bless someone.While listening to Houston’s Inspiration radio station Praise 92.1 one morning, I was blessed to find out that the Christian comedian Marcus D. Wiley who is part of the Yolanda Adams Morning show would be providing several “Best Of 2008″ series for the year 2008. For example, if you visit http://www.marcusdwiley.com/estore.html, you will find “The Best Of Bishop Secular - 2008“,
“The Best Of Sanctified Sermon Topics - 2008“,

and “The Best Of The Rest - 2008”
.
Or you can take advantage of “The Best Of Everything - 2008” which is a bundle of all Marcus’s “Best Of 2008″ series.

Let me encourage you to bless several people at one time by supporting Mr. Wiley and also making the recipient of the gift smile. Mr. Wiley is truly blessed with a gift of comedy, and in these times, we all could use a good laugh. If you are like me, sometimes you have to encourage and bless yourself. Why not purchase at least one series for yourself and another for a loved one you would like to bless.
Fellas, if you are spending your first Christmas with that special one in your life, why not bless her with a different gift such as the Marcus D. Wiley’s “Best Of 2008″ series.
Ladies if you would like to bless your man with a present with a masculine touch and one that can make both you and your man laugh for many nights to come, then get your copy of “The Best Of Everything - 2008“. I received my copy in the mail yesterday, and have been laughing every since.
God bless you and yours,

Recently while at the salon, I had the opportunity to meet an author who had just released her latest book 2 weeks prior to us meeting. I learned (both by asking her questions and listening to her eloquently speak to others in the shop as we waited for service) that this is actually her second book (the first one “When You Think Of Me” was published a few years prior). Her latest compilation titled “Living With No Regrets” appears to be a sure winner. The book’s inside cover gives a synopsis as such:
Cherrelle Elliot has been betrayed by both family and friends. On the day of her wedding, her fiancé jilts her at the altar and marries her first cousin. She is devastated to find that her family members have accepted the relationship without regard to her feelings when she sees her ex-fiancé, cousin, and their new child being admired at the family reunion. Her grief and embarrassment cause her to leave her home city of New Orleans and move to Houston. After years away from New Orleans, Cherrelle’s grandmother asks her to chair the family reunion committee, but she refuses. Reassigned to New Orleans to work on a new project for her company, she is forced to take a matured look at her family, and Cherrelle realizes that some things have changed. Her grandmother is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s, her sister is being abused by her husband, and her father is missing to name a few. The only things that make life in New Orleans bearable are the foods that remind her of the love of her family and an unexpected reunion with Cory, a childhood friend she secretly had a crush on.Her grandmother’s disease forces Cherrelle to take over the family reunion, but plans are interrupted when Hurricane Katrina roars through, causing havoc for the family as members are separated from one another.“Living With No Regrets” is a story of how Cherrelle and her family deal with betrayal, forgiveness, family, love, reunion planning, Alzheimer’s, and spousal abuse.
I began reading the hard cover version of the book while in the salon. And I must say that it is already entertaining. I briefly scan through the book and noticed that towards the back of the book there were actually recipes that Mrs. Piper has included. She mentioned many of the recipes actually come from her mother. If you are looking to bless someone (or yourself) with a different kind of gift, let me encourage you to purchase “Living With No Regrets” by visiting http://www.annetrapiperbooks.com/online_store. It comes in both hard cover and paperback.

Many of us are facing adversity from many fronts. Some of us are dealing with unemployment. Some are going to work, knowing that job cuts will happen but do not know if they will be in the group that will be laid off. Some of us face other battles like loneliness, betrayal, depression, obsession, illness. The possibilities are numerous. But I’m here to tell you for the believers of God The Father, for the believers of Jesus Christ the Son (our Savior), the adversity is but a minute and the outcome is favorable to us who believe.
The bible shares many promises our Lord God has made to us, the children of Zion (Israel), the children of Abraham (those who confess Jesus as Lord and Savior). And before I share a specific scripture, understand that many times people fuss over whether to take scripture literally or figuratively. And even in taking it figuratively many misinterpret the meaning. But the verses I will share, no matter how interpreted are loaded with the unshakable, unstoppable promise of victory and protection by God and granted to us that are saved (believers that Jesus Christ is our Access To God). Here is Isaiah 54, followed by my interpretation of God’s uplifting words:
Isaiah 54
1 “Sing, O barren woman,
you who never bore a child;
burst into song, shout for joy,
you who were never in labor;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
than of her who has a husband,”
says the LORD.
2 “Enlarge the place of your tent,
stretch your tent curtains wide,
do not hold back;
lengthen your cords,
strengthen your stakes.
3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
your descendants will dispossess nations
and settle in their desolate cities.
4 “Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame.
Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth
and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.
5 For your Maker is your husband—
the LORD Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.
6 The LORD will call you back
as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—
a wife who married young,
only to be rejected,” says your God.
7 “For a brief moment I abandoned you,
but with deep compassion I will bring you back.
8 In a surge of anger
I hid my face from you for a moment,
but with everlasting kindness
I will have compassion on you,”
says the LORD your Redeemer.
9 “To me this is like the days of Noah,
when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.
So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,
never to rebuke you again.
10 Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
11 “O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,
I will build you with stones of turquoise, [a]
your foundations with sapphires. [b]
12 I will make your battlements of rubies,
your gates of sparkling jewels,
and all your walls of precious stones.
13 All your sons will be taught by the LORD,
and great will be your children’s peace.
14 In righteousness you will be established:
Tyranny will be far from you;
you will have nothing to fear.
Terror will be far removed;
it will not come near you.
15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
whoever attacks you will surrender to you.
16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith
who fans the coals into flame
and forges a weapon fit for its work.
And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc;
17 no weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
and this is their vindication from me,”
declares the LORD.
In reading Isaiah 54, understand that God is saying that even though we face trials, that we must believe in His promise. He is saying that it may seem that He has abandoned us because things look, feel, sound so bad but He is right there beside us, over us, and in us at ALL times. He is omnipresent. Isaiah 54:1
suggest we sing out of joy, even during the midst of a storm. “Sing, O barren woman,
you who never bore a child;
burst into song, shout for joy,
you who were never in labor;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
than of her who has a husband,”
says the LORD
Read the following verses to understand why. Isaiah 54:3 tells us that we need to raise our level of expectancy. Stretch our faith, our minds because God is doing things our minds can not fathom.
3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
your descendants will dispossess nations
and settle in their desolate cities.
Isaiah 54:5 says the Lord is our Husband.
5 For your Maker is your husband—
the LORD Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.
In other words, He is our provider. He will take care of us. Yes, I know you may be suffering financially. But the job and paycheck are vehicles, tools that God uses to bless you so you may bless others. So trust in the Lord. For He just told you in Isaiah 54:5 that He is your husband, your provider! Amen! Verse 54: 9 and 10 God is telling us He will never rebuke us again. And He is telling you that His love is unfailing and that his covenant/promise of peace will not be removed!
Hallelujah. Read verses 11-15. These are powerful scriptures. God is saying yes you will go through storms, but they will be used to shape you, to strengthen you, to redirect you. And after the storm, the Lord God will build you up so that you are better than you were before the storm. Everything (good or bad) is used for the betterment of His kingdom. He even says your children’s peace will be great. Since I’m a mother, I love God’s promise that my childrens’ peace will be great. I believe it and know His word can not return void! Isaiah 54:15 tells us that if you are attacked it is not by God. But God will make your attacker suffer. 15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
whoever attacks you will surrender to you.
Isaiah 54:17 no weapon formed against you will prevail. God is telling you that any tongue that accuses you, or starts lies and rumors, any gossip said about you, you will prove them to be wrong! God says in verse 17 that these promises and blessings and protection are inherited by His servants, the saved Christians.
17 no weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
and this is their vindication from me,”
declares the LORD.
To experience these promises firsthand, you must believe that Jesus Christ is your only Access To God. If you do not believe it, then all these promises do not belong to you!
Let me encourage you to be strong during the storms. Be faithful! Look to God as your husband your provider! Because He told you He is. Know that He will never forsake you! Know that your enemies will suffer, know that you will prevail! In Jesus mighty, powerful, redeeming, enlightening, loving, perfect, Holy, majestic, overcoming, victorious name! November 18
“So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock. And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock” (Matthew 7:24, 25, AMP). Everyone experiences trials and tribulations. However, when your life is constructed on the rock of God’s Word, you will boldly withstand the pressures of life!
November 19
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:1). Condemnation is one of Satan’s tactics, not God’s. Through Jesus Christ, you’ve been freed from condemnation, guilt, and shame.
November 20
“For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee” (Deuteronomy 23:14). You’re responsible for the spiritual temperament of your home. Be sure your home remains a holy place the Lord will be pleased to dwell in and bless.
November 21
“His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things …” (Matthew 25:21). Small beginnings are a great indication of what you can handle. What you do with the few demonstrates what you’ll do with plenty. If you’ve proven you can handle a small amount, expect God to make you ruler over much! November 22 “How to be feared and reverenced is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gateway to heaven!” (Genesis 28:17, AMP). God is alive in your heart. When you allow Him access to every part of your heart, you’ll find His soothing love and presence everywhere. November 23 “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM …” (Exodus 3:14). God’s name reveals the true character of who He is. He’s a Provider, Father, Deliverer, and a Restorer! Everything you could ever want, need, or desire, He is! November 24 “… With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). When you’re faced with the seemingly impossible, summon the help of El-Shaddai. While men are limited, El-Shaddai is limitless and unable to fail. November 25 “HAVE MERCY upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude of Your tender mercy and loving-kindness blot out my transgressions” (Psalm 51:1, AMP). God is merciful and tender. His unfailing, neverending love and grace assures all your sins are a forgotten memory. November 26 “… I, God, will comfort Zion, comfort all her mounds of ruins. I’ll transform her dead ground into Eden, her moonscape into the garden of God, A place filled with exuberance and laughter, thankful voices and melodic songs” (Isaiah 51:3, MSG). Rejoice with joyful laughter for the Lord is not through with you yet! Every day He is restoring, renewing, reviving, and releasing His glory. November 27 “And going a little farther, He threw Himself upon the ground on His face and prayed saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will [not what I desire], but as You will and desire” (Matthew 26:39, AMP). Pursue the will of God for your life at all costs. Amidst tough times, Jesus pressed forward avidly pursuing the will of God; you are equipped to do the same. November 28 “The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands …” (Deuteronomy 28:12, AMP). You’re blessed! The treasury of Heaven is yours. Expect everything you touch to prosper! November 29 “And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:18). God is not some far out being from another planet. When you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, you become a child of God. He is your lovingly faithful and always present Father. November 30 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do …” (John 14:13). Because Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, you have access to the unstoppable power of His name. Use it!
