Many of us are facing adversity from many fronts. Some of us are dealing with unemployment. Some are going to work, knowing that job cuts will happen but do not know if they will be in the group that will be laid off. Some of us face other battles like loneliness, betrayal, depression, obsession, illness. The possibilities are numerous. But I’m here to tell you for the believers of God The Father, for the believers of Jesus Christ the Son (our Savior), the adversity is but a minute and the outcome is favorable to us who believe.
The bible shares many promises our Lord God has made to us, the children of Zion (Israel), the children of Abraham (those who confess Jesus as Lord and Savior). And before I share a specific scripture, understand that many times people fuss over whether to take scripture literally or figuratively. And even in taking it figuratively many misinterpret the meaning. But the verses I will share, no matter how interpreted are loaded with the unshakable, unstoppable promise of victory and protection by God and granted to us that are saved (believers that Jesus Christ is our Access To God). Here is Isaiah 54, followed by my interpretation of God’s uplifting words:
Isaiah 54
1 “Sing, O barren woman,
      you who never bore a child;
      burst into song, shout for joy,
      you who were never in labor;
      because more are the children of the desolate woman
      than of her who has a husband,”
      says the LORD.
 2 “Enlarge the place of your tent,
      stretch your tent curtains wide,
      do not hold back;
      lengthen your cords,
      strengthen your stakes.
 3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
      your descendants will dispossess nations
      and settle in their desolate cities.
 4 “Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame.
      Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.
      You will forget the shame of your youth
      and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.
 5 For your Maker is your husband—
      the LORD Almighty is his name—
      the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
      he is called the God of all the earth.
 6 The LORD will call you back
      as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—
      a wife who married young,
      only to be rejected,” says your God.
 7 “For a brief moment I abandoned you,
      but with deep compassion I will bring you back.
 8 In a surge of anger
      I hid my face from you for a moment,
      but with everlasting kindness
      I will have compassion on you,”
      says the LORD your Redeemer.
 9 “To me this is like the days of Noah,
      when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.
      So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,
      never to rebuke you again.
 10 Though the mountains be shaken
      and the hills be removed,
      yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
      nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
      says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
 11 “O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,
      I will build you with stones of turquoise, [a]
      your foundations with sapphires. [b]
 12 I will make your battlements of rubies,
      your gates of sparkling jewels,
      and all your walls of precious stones.
 13 All your sons will be taught by the LORD,
      and great will be your children’s peace.
 14 In righteousness you will be established:
      Tyranny will be far from you;
      you will have nothing to fear.
      Terror will be far removed;
      it will not come near you.
 15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
      whoever attacks you will surrender to you.
 16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith
      who fans the coals into flame
      and forges a weapon fit for its work.
      And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc;
 17 no weapon forged against you will prevail,
      and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
      This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
      and this is their vindication from me,”
      declares the LORD.
In reading Isaiah 54, understand that God is saying that even though we face trials, that we must believe in His promise. He is saying that it may seem that He has abandoned us because things look, feel, sound so bad but He is right there beside us, over us, and in us at ALL times. He is omnipresent. Isaiah 54:1
suggest we sing out of joy, even during the midst of a storm. “Sing, O barren woman,
      you who never bore a child;
      burst into song, shout for joy,
      you who were never in labor;
      because more are the children of the desolate woman
      than of her who has a husband,”
      says the LORDÂ
Read the following verses to understand why. Isaiah 54:3 tells us that we need to raise our level of expectancy. Stretch our faith, our minds because God is doing things our minds can not fathom.
3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
      your descendants will dispossess nations
      and settle in their desolate cities.
Isaiah 54:5 says the Lord is our Husband.
 5 For your Maker is your husband—
      the LORD Almighty is his name—
      the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
      he is called the God of all the earth.
In other words, He is our provider. He will take care of us. Yes, I know you may be suffering financially. But the job and paycheck are vehicles, tools that God uses to bless you so you may bless others. So trust in the Lord. For He just told you in Isaiah 54:5 that He is your husband, your provider! Amen! Verse 54: 9 and 10 God is telling us He will never rebuke us again. And He is telling you that His love is unfailing and that his covenant/promise of peace will not be removed!
Hallelujah. Read verses 11-15. These are powerful scriptures. God is saying yes you will go through storms, but they will be used to shape you, to strengthen you, to redirect you. And after the storm, the Lord God will build you up so that you are better than you were before the storm. Everything (good or bad) is used for the betterment of His kingdom. He even says your children’s peace will be great. Since I’m a mother, I love God’s promise that my childrens’ peace will be great. I believe it and know His word can not return void! Isaiah 54:15 tells us that if you are attacked it is not by God. But God will make your attacker suffer. 15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
      whoever attacks you will surrender to you.
Isaiah 54:17 no weapon formed against you will prevail. God is telling you that any tongue that accuses you, or starts lies and rumors, any gossip said about you, you will prove them to be wrong! God says in verse 17 that these promises and blessings and protection are inherited by His servants, the saved Christians.
17 no weapon forged against you will prevail,
      and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
      This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
      and this is their vindication from me,”
      declares the LORD.
To experience these promises firsthand, you must believe that Jesus Christ is your only Access To God. If you do not believe it, then all these promises do not belong to you!Â
Let me encourage you to be strong during the storms. Be faithful! Look to God as your husband your provider! Because He told you He is. Know that He will never forsake you! Know that your enemies will suffer, know that you will prevail! In Jesus mighty, powerful, redeeming, enlightening, loving, perfect, Holy, majestic, overcoming, victorious name!  November 18
 “So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them [obeying them] will be like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock. And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock” (Matthew 7:24, 25, AMP). Everyone experiences trials and tribulations. However, when your life is constructed on the rock of God’s Word, you will boldly withstand the pressures of life!Â
November 19
 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:1). Condemnation is one of Satan’s tactics, not God’s. Through Jesus Christ, you’ve been freed from condemnation, guilt, and shame.Â
November 20
 “For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee” (Deuteronomy 23:14). You’re responsible for the spiritual temperament of your home. Be sure your home remains a holy place the Lord will be pleased to dwell in and bless.Â
November 21
 “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things …” (Matthew 25:21). Small beginnings are a great indication of what you can handle. What you do with the few demonstrates what you’ll do with plenty. If you’ve proven you can handle a small amount, expect God to make you ruler over much! November 22  “How to be feared and reverenced is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gateway to heaven!” (Genesis 28:17, AMP). God is alive in your heart. When you allow Him access to every part of your heart, you’ll find His soothing love and presence everywhere. November 23  “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM …” (Exodus 3:14). God’s name reveals the true character of who He is. He’s a Provider, Father, Deliverer, and a Restorer! Everything you could ever want, need, or desire, He is! November 24  “… With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). When you’re faced with the seemingly impossible, summon the help of El-Shaddai. While men are limited, El-Shaddai is limitless and unable to fail. November 25  “HAVE MERCY upon me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to the multitude of Your tender mercy and loving-kindness blot out my transgressions” (Psalm 51:1, AMP). God is merciful and tender. His unfailing, neverending love and grace assures all your sins are a forgotten memory. November 26  “… I, God, will comfort Zion, comfort all her mounds of ruins. I’ll transform her dead ground into Eden, her moonscape into the garden of God, A place filled with exuberance and laughter, thankful voices and melodic songs” (Isaiah 51:3, MSG). Rejoice with joyful laughter for the Lord is not through with you yet! Every day He is restoring, renewing, reviving, and releasing His glory. November 27  “And going a little farther, He threw Himself upon the ground on His face and prayed saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will [not what I desire], but as You will and desire” (Matthew 26:39, AMP). Pursue the will of God for your life at all costs. Amidst tough times, Jesus pressed forward avidly pursuing the will of God; you are equipped to do the same. November 28  “The Lord shall open to you His good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands …” (Deuteronomy 28:12, AMP). You’re blessed! The treasury of Heaven is yours. Expect everything you touch to prosper! November 29  “And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:18). God is not some far out being from another planet. When you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, you become a child of God. He is your lovingly faithful and always present Father. November 30  “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do …” (John 14:13). Because Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, you have access to the unstoppable power of His name. Use it!Â

I don’t know if this is true or not, but I heard on the radio that a certain “group” of WWII soldiers prayed Psalm 91 while at war and not one soldier in that “group” died! This is relevant as we have soldiers at war and on our national holiday, Veteran’s Day. I know first hand that prayer works. I have used Psalm 91Â as I pray over my children while they sleep at night. I have used Psalm 91 as scripture to reference while praying to God to protect my home during the hurricane season. And it definitely works. My house during hurricane Ike suffered VERY little damage. I can not say that for some of my neighbors. I pray Psalm 91 as prayer to prevent any harm and any diseases to come onto my kids, my family, my kids.
 And now with our nation’s first Black President (Barack Obama) I pray Psalm 91 over him and his family and also this nation. These are some difficult and challenging times. But I thank God for the scripture in Psalm 91. And I thank Jesus for dying on the cross and providing direct access to God.
So let me encourage you as one who has seen the benefits of prayer, specifically Psalm 91, to use scripture in the Bible in your prayers. Because remember God’s word can not return void.
Here is Psalm 91:
 1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
      will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [a]
 2 I will say [b] of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
      my God, in whom I trust.”
 3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
      and from the deadly pestilence.
 4 He will cover you with his feathers,
      and under his wings you will find refuge;
      his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
 5 You will not fear the terror of night,
      nor the arrow that flies by day,
 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
      nor the plague that destroys at midday.
 7 A thousand may fall at your side,
      ten thousand at your right hand,
      but it will not come near you.
 8 You will only observe with your eyes
      and see the punishment of the wicked.
 9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
      even the LORD, who is my refuge-
 10 then no harm will befall you,
      no disaster will come near your tent.
 11 For he will command his angels concerning you
      to guard you in all your ways;
 12 they will lift you up in their hands,
      so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
 13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
      you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
 14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
      I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
      I will be with him in trouble,
      I will deliver him and honor him.
 16 With long life will I satisfy him
      and show him my salvation.”
