No matter how long someone is unemployed, at times there is a tendency to be worried. We are human and the flesh is weak. Though I have faith in God and the steps that He has ordered me to take, I did have a bout with worry.
But as always God is right there with me. At the very moment I began to shed a few tears, a good friend of mine that I had not heard from in a while and who is also a Christian sent me a text message of encouragement. After exchanging messages back and forth, I felt better.
But as time went by (about a couple of hours) the flesh became weak again. I cried again but through the tears I repeatedly thanked God. I told God I know I will reach the other side of this storm because He is with me. I told God and Jesus that I love them.
Then a recruiter called me about an opportunity for a company I worked for as a contractor several years ago. I do not know how this opportunity will turn out. But my point is that God is showing me in different ways that He is right there. He knows what I am going through. And I am making a point to praise Him and love Him as I go through this period of unemployment.
So I wanted to find some relevant scripture that I could share with you. I want to encourage you to read Luke 12:22-31 which tells us not to worry and to listen to the song I included below. God knows we have needs. So if you are unemployed or you are lacking, know that God is with you and He knows what you are going through. Here is
Luke 12:22-31
22Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[b]? 26Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?
27“Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

Update: 4/6/2012
God truly has a plan for you as He does for me. Since I made this blog post back in 2008, it is now 4/6/2012. I have been employed with the same employer for almost 4 years now! God is so good. Not only that. I couldn’t ask for a better boss and team of co-workers. My boss understands the need for a balance between work and life. As a single parent, it really helps. But that’s just the beginning of how God allowed me to go through unemployment to take me to the next level (to elevate me). I am at a job with several weeks vacation and I’m able to work from home up to 3 days a week. I said all that to say, that No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Trust in the Lord, there is a reason for this season. God knows what He is doing. All you have to do is simply believe! Keep pushing and searching for work. God will meet your need! I am truly a witness and I’ve been through unemployment a few times. Your blessing is coming soon my friend! In Jesus name.
Update: 2/1/2015
Here I am, almost seven years later. I am still employed with the same company that God led to bring me out of unemployment. I’ve prospered so much at and through this job. I’m so incredibly blessed. I’m now Team Lead over my group of peers at the company. I’ve been blessed in ways you’d never imagine and ways that I didn’t see coming. God is so good my friend! Don’t give up! God will bring you out of the storm and elevate you on top of it! Remember to TRUST HIM!
Lastly, don’t be too proud to reach out to 24 hour prayer lines.
Walking in love,
