{"id":20292,"date":"2017-09-23T14:43:38","date_gmt":"2017-09-23T20:43:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.accesstogod.com\/index.php\/2017\/09\/23\/job-311-40-world-english-bible\/"},"modified":"2017-09-23T14:43:38","modified_gmt":"2017-09-23T20:43:38","slug":"job-311-40-world-english-bible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.accesstogod.com\/?p=20292","title":{"rendered":"Job 31:1-40 (World English Bible)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-4647651612525789\"; \/* access2God_horiz_4_link_single_post *\/ google_ad_slot = \"7824248799\"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><br \/>\n<strong>1<\/strong> &#8220;I made a covenant with my eyes, How then should I look lustfully at a young woman? <\/br><strong>2<\/strong> For what is the portion from God above, And the heritage from the Almighty on high? <\/br><strong>3<\/strong> Is it not calamity to the unrighteous, And disaster to the workers of iniquity? <\/br><strong>4<\/strong> Doesn&#8217;t he see my ways, And number all my steps? <\/br><strong>5<\/strong> &#8220;If I have walked with falsehood, And my foot has hurried to deceit <\/br><strong>6<\/strong> (Let me be weighed in an even balance, That God may know my integrity); <\/br><strong>7<\/strong> If my step has turned out of the way, If my heart walked after my eyes, If any defilement has stuck to my hands, <\/br><strong>8<\/strong> Then let me sow, and let another eat; Yes, let the produce of my field be rooted out. <\/br><strong>9<\/strong> &#8220;If my heart has been enticed to a woman, And I have laid wait at my neighbor&#8217;s door; <\/br><strong>10<\/strong> Then let my wife grind for another, And let others sleep with her. <\/br><strong>11<\/strong> For that would be a heinous crime; Yes, it would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges: <\/br><strong>12<\/strong> For it is a fire that consumes to destruction, And would root out all my increase. <\/br><strong>13<\/strong> &#8220;If I have despised the cause of my man-servant Or of my maid-servant, When they contended with me; <\/br><strong>14<\/strong> What then shall I do when God rises up? When he visits, what shall I answer him? <\/br><strong>15<\/strong> Didn&#8217;t he who made me in the womb make him? Didn&#8217;t one fashion us in the womb? <\/br><strong>16<\/strong> &#8220;If I have withheld the poor from their desire, Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail, <\/br><strong>17<\/strong> Or have eaten my morsel alone, And the fatherless has not eaten of it <\/br><strong>18<\/strong> (No, from my youth he grew up with me as with a father, Her have I guided from my mother&#8217;s womb); <\/br><strong>19<\/strong> If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, Or that the needy had no covering; <\/br><strong>20<\/strong> If his heart hasn&#8217;t blessed me, If he hasn&#8217;t been warmed with my sheep&#8217;s fleece; <\/br><strong>21<\/strong> If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, Because I saw my help in the gate: <\/br><strong>22<\/strong> Then let my shoulder fall from the shoulder-blade, And my arm be broken from the bone. <\/br><strong>23<\/strong> For calamity from God is a terror to me, By reason of his majesty I can do nothing. <\/br><strong>24<\/strong> &#8220;If I have made gold my hope, And have said to the fine gold, &#8216;You are my confidence;&#8217; <\/br><strong>25<\/strong> If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great, And because my hand had gotten much; <\/br><strong>26<\/strong> If I have seen the sun when it shined, Or the moon moving in splendor, <\/br><strong>27<\/strong> And my heart has been secretly enticed, My hand threw a kiss from my mouth: <\/br><strong>28<\/strong> This also would be an iniquity to be punished by the judges; For I should have denied the God who is above. <\/br><strong>29<\/strong> &#8220;If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me, Or lifted up myself when evil found him; <\/br><strong>30<\/strong> (Yes, I have not allowed my mouth to sin By asking his life with a curse); <\/br><strong>31<\/strong> If the men of my tent have not said, &#8216;Who can find one who has not been filled with his meat?&#8217; <\/br><strong>32<\/strong> (The foreigner has not lodged in the street; But I have opened my doors to the traveler); <\/br><strong>33<\/strong> If like Adam I have covered my transgressions, By hiding my iniquity in my heart, <\/br><strong>34<\/strong> Because I feared the great multitude, And the contempt of families terrified me, So that I kept silence, and didn&#8217;t go out of the door&#8211; <\/br><strong>35<\/strong> Oh that I had one to hear me! (Behold, here is my signature, let the Almighty answer me); Let the accuser write my indictment! <\/br><strong>36<\/strong> Surely I would carry it on my shoulder; And I would bind it to me as a crown. <\/br><strong>37<\/strong> I would declare to him the number of my steps.
