{"id":24596,"date":"2017-09-30T15:50:55","date_gmt":"2017-09-30T21:50:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.accesstogod.com\/index.php\/2017\/09\/30\/titus-11-16-american-standard-version\/"},"modified":"2017-09-30T15:50:55","modified_gmt":"2017-09-30T21:50:55","slug":"titus-11-16-american-standard-version","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.accesstogod.com\/?p=24596","title":{"rendered":"Titus 1:1-16 (American Standard Version)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-4647651612525789\"; \/* access2God_horiz_4_link_single_post *\/ google_ad_slot = \"7824248799\"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><br \/>\n<strong>1<\/strong> Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God&#8217;s elect, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, <\/br><strong>2<\/strong> in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before times eternal; <\/br><strong>3<\/strong> but in his own seasons manifested his word in the message, wherewith I was intrusted according to the commandment of God our Saviour; <\/br><strong>4<\/strong> to Titus, my true child after a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Saviour. <\/br><strong>5<\/strong> For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that were wanting, and appoint elders in every city, as I gave thee charge; <\/br><strong>6<\/strong> if any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children that believe, who are not accused of riot or unruly. <\/br><strong>7<\/strong> For the bishop must be blameless, as God&#8217;s steward; not self-willed, not soon angry, no brawler, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; <\/br><strong>8<\/strong> but given to hospitality, as lover of good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled; <\/br><strong>9<\/strong> holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict the gainsayers. <\/br><strong>10<\/strong> For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision, <\/br><strong>11<\/strong> whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre&#8217;s sake. <\/br><strong>12<\/strong> One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle gluttons. <\/br><strong>13<\/strong> This testimony is true. For which cause reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, <\/br><strong>14<\/strong> not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men who turn away from the truth. <\/br><strong>15<\/strong> To the pure all things are pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled. <\/br><strong>16<\/strong> They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. <\/br><script
