{"id":24606,"date":"2017-09-30T15:50:58","date_gmt":"2017-09-30T21:50:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.accesstogod.com\/index.php\/2017\/09\/30\/1-timothy-11-20-american-standard-version\/"},"modified":"2017-09-30T15:50:58","modified_gmt":"2017-09-30T21:50:58","slug":"1-timothy-11-20-american-standard-version","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.accesstogod.com\/?p=24606","title":{"rendered":"1 Timothy 1:1-20 (American Standard Version)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\ngoogle_ad_client = \"ca-pub-4647651612525789\"; \/* access2God_horiz_4_link_single_post *\/ google_ad_slot = \"7824248799\"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 15;\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><br \/>\n<strong>1<\/strong> Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Saviour, and Christ Jesus our hope; <\/br><strong>2<\/strong> unto Timothy, my true child in faith: Grace, mercy, peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord. <\/br><strong>3<\/strong> As I exhorted thee to tarry at Ephesus, when I was going into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge certain men not to teach a different doctrine, <\/br><strong>4<\/strong> neither to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questionings, rather than a dispensation of God which is in faith; `so do I now&#8217;. <\/br><strong>5<\/strong> But the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and faith unfeigned: <\/br><strong>6<\/strong> from which things some having swerved have turned aside unto vain talking; <\/br><strong>7<\/strong> desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm. <\/br><strong>8<\/strong> But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully, <\/br><strong>9<\/strong> as knowing this, that law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and unruly, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, <\/br><strong>10<\/strong> for fornicators, for abusers of themselves with men, for menstealers, for liars, for false swearers, and if there be any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine; <\/br><strong>11<\/strong> according to the gospel of the glory of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. <\/br><strong>12<\/strong> I thank him that enabled me, `even&#8217; Christ Jesus our Lord, for that he counted me faithful, appointing me to `his&#8217; service; <\/br><strong>13<\/strong> though I was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: howbeit I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief; <\/br><strong>14<\/strong> and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. <\/br><strong>15<\/strong> Faithful is the saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief: <\/br><strong>16<\/strong> howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me as chief might Jesus Christ show forth all his longsuffering, for an ensample of them that should thereafter believe on him unto eternal life. <\/br><strong>17<\/strong> Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, `be&#8217; honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. <\/br><strong>18<\/strong> This charge I commit unto thee, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which led the way to thee, that by them thou mayest war the good warfare; <\/br><strong>19<\/strong> holding faith and a good conscience; which some having thrust from them made shipwreck concerning the faith: <\/br><strong>20<\/strong> of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander;
