Prayer Works! God Spared Me And The Family From Hurricane Ike!
Before hurricane Ike struck the Texas coast and before leaving my home with the kids to stay at my parents’ house, I prayed in a sincerity I can’t put into words. I started praising God and really loving on Him. I complimented Him and Jesus. Then I asked for forgiveness (even for things I’m not aware I may have done that would displease God). Then I felt an urgency in my spirit to rebuke the devil and any other satanic spirits from my house, my body, my children, my loved ones, my friends, and even my enemies. (Yes, even my enemies). I spoke in Jesus name over any weapon that could be used against me, my loved ones, and my home. I BELIEVED with all sincerity everything I prayed. Ironically, I could not find my bible to read Psalm 91. But it was ok because I have prayed Psalm 91 so many times as my strong word and weapon of protection.
My son was asleep as I prayed, but my daughter heard me loud and clear. Well, after the storm passed, I took the kids with me to check on the house and to determine the effects of hurricane Ike. As we drove towards the neighborhood, I saw many disastrous things. We saw trees of all sizes on houses, fences that had been ripped apart on the ground, power lines and poles that had snapped into two pieces and more. My neighborhood looked bad. I have to admit, I felt nervous about what awaited me at my house.
But as I arrived at my house I was happy to find that my house was almost completely spared of any damage unlike some of my surrounding neighbors. All of my trees were fine. My fence and garage were fine. The worst of my damage was a very small patch of shingles from my roof! Praise God for that!
What was also nice was that through the experience, my children were able to see first hand the power of prayer and believing God to deliver on His promises. Hallelujah!
So I encourage you to read out loud Psalm 91. I also have laid hands on my children while they were sleep and read it as is and also read it replacing any pronoun in the scripture with their full names (first, middle, and last). I want to make sure the angels know who God wants them to protect. Let there be no mistake. So I thank God, Jesus, and the Angels of Heaven for watching over everyone I love, our bodies as temples, and even our dwelling places (our homes) which are also temples.
Here is Psalm 91:
1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. [a]
2 I will say [b] of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
3 Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
9 If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the LORD, who is my refuge-
10 then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
11 For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
12 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
14 “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
