Bill Winston Ministries Word Of The Week That Touches on Humility is so timely for me.
1 Peter 5:6-7 (King James Version)
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for youI hope in the least that we can humble ourselves before God because I am finding that many of us can not humble ourselves before other people or our own reflection! I had a discussion last night with a friend that really makes this scripture relevant to me. Without going into what the argument was about or who was right or wrong, I will just say that I am still amazed how people can not humble themselves enough to be able to see the error in their ways. They are too busy pointing their finger at the other party.Let me tell you, I know I am so flawed that it is not funny. And I am the first one to admit that I am not perfect. Which to me is a sign of spiritual maturity. I can admit that I do not know everything, that I have made mistakes and will make mistakes. When I am wrong I apologize. And even when I am right, I actually feel sorry for the person in the wrong. That is because my intentions are genuine. And I do not like being the source of any pain. But what I am seeing in friends, acquaintances, just people in general is the unbelievable amount of arrogance we have about ourselves. We feel that we are right far too many times when we are partially right or flat out wrong! Or we don’t take the time to hold ourselves accountable.
So I would like to encourage all of us, starting with myself, to stop pointing the finger at other people. Stop being so quick to accuse some one or blame someone. Instead, start with the person in the mirror. If you can not find the fault in your own ways and thoughts, then may God have mercy on you.
God Bless us all!
